[Clinical effects of NK 631 (pepleomycin) against malignant tumors of the head and neck (author's transl)]
[Article in Japanese]
Satoh F, Saitoh H, Mizukoshi O.
1. The antitumor effect of pepleomycin observed in 11 cases of malignant tumors of the head and neck was compared with that of bleomycin in similar cases, and the former appeared slightly preferable. 2. The adverse reactions to the 2 drugs were similar to each other; however, those to pepleomycin were milder. 3. Only few cases exhibiting such severe pulmonary fibrosis as emphasized in the published data have been encountered in bleomycin treatment in the authors' department. However, with reference to the measurements of PaO2 in the pepleomycin-treated cases, this may be said to be an anticancer drug which is easier to use clinically. 4. Adverse reactions to pepleomycin, e.g., alopecia, malaise, and others, were less frequent and less severe than those to bleomycin. 5. It was studied by the auditory acuity test in 10 cases (excluding 1 dropout) whether any auditory acuity disorder would occur after pepleomycin treatment: No changes in auditory acuity were observed in any of the cases.

Cerebellotrigeminal and focal dermal dysplasia: a newly recognized neurocutaneous syndrome.
Gomez MR.
A female child with brachycephaly, hypertelorism, convergent strabismus, interstitial keratitis, analgesia on both sides of the face, absent corneal reflexes, and focal congenital alopecia of a zone of the occipital and posterior parietal scalp is presented. The patient also had generalized hypotonia in early life, and at age 4 years 9 months, she was found to be moderately mentally subnormal and to have severe cerebellar deficit consisting of gait and truncal ataxia. There was no clinical evidence of other cranial nerves being affected. It is postulated that the patient has a cerebellotrigeminal and focal dermal dysplasia due to a development arrest of the ectoderm, which gives rise to the alar plate of the rhombencephalon, the overlying epidermis, the motor nucleus of V, and the trigeminal placodes.

This paper describes the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical aspects of the skin lesions in three dogs with leishmaniosis and generalized demodicosis. Diffuse alopecia, crusts, folliculitis and furunculosis, as commonly seen in generalized demodicosis, were prominent in all the dogs. MicroIscopically, there was a diffuse and perifollicular superficial and deep granulomatous dermatitis and, in two dogs, both Demodex canis mites and Leishmania spp. amastigotes were observed in the same lesions. Numerous Mac387(+)macrophages were observed in the inflammatory infiltrates, but macrophages loaded with amastigotes were Mac387(-). In all cases, immunoreactive CD3 lymphocytes were sparse, both in the granulomatous and perifollicular infiltrates. There were numerous IgG+, IgG4(+)-secreting plasma cells in areas of folliculitis and furunculosis and fewer IgG2(+), IgG3(+), IgA+and IgM+-secreting plasma cells in the inflammatory infiltrate. In all cases, MHC Class II was expressed by the majority of dermal macrophages and dendritic cells, as well as by lymphocytes and fibroblasts. The paucity of CD3(+)lymphocytes, usually abundant in D. canis lesions, points to leishmania-induced cell-mediated immunosuppression as a predisposing factor for generalized demodicosis. 1999 W.B. Hair loss is genetically influenced, but it is always difficult to predict. Overall, more than 50% of US men suffer hair loss by their age of 45. Men are more likely to lose hair than women. Hair Million offers an alternative solution to hair loss problems. Anecdotally, it shows prositive results and improvement for age-related hair thinning and hair loss for a fraction of people who take it. We do not know the mechanisms of action as to how Hair Million works to help stop hair loss, and promote hair growth. We only know by anecdotal observations. There has been no clinical trials nor placebo controlled statistical analysis on the efficacy of HairMillion on hair loss and hair growth. Buy Lipitor Online is a clinically tested and FDA approved drug for hair loss problems.
